Mother Nature has recently taken a very large, very violent dump on this
beautiful island nation and the Japanese people are in rough shape.
I haven't been able to find a more visceral way to convey the damage than by showing before and after pictures in real time. The pictures I'm about to direct you to come from ABC News and will allow you to see what things looked like before the earthquake and as you move your mouse over the picture it reveals what things look like after the earthquake/tsunami sucker punch:
Besides the rampant devastation there's also the issue of no clean water, no electricity, and no place to seek shelter in, should another disaster hit. On top of this, the nuclear power plant that made things like
this possible, is currently in a meltdown state.That means that the people of Japan have no water, no electricity, no medical services besides rudimentary emergency stuff, no homes, and now they face the impending doom of a massive radiation leak. The first person that makes a
Godzilla joke gets banned forever.
